And a Friesan makes three

We will be adding another to our horsey family as my partners daughter Natalie is buying a beautiful Friesan girl Tia who will be arriving tomorrow, so expect  plenty of post and pictures. She is under weight and out of condition as she been out of work for quite a while but she has the sweetest nature which is the most important thing and everything else will come with care and time.

Oh to be in that saddle again

Well its been nearly three months since Tetley got a tendon injury and after weeks of box rest and then a couple of weeks of being turned out today we had our first hack out.
I've missed riding him and I know I'm lucky having two horses to ride but riding Leo (being an Arab) well you have to RIDE. Even mounting is so different with Leo being 14.3 and Tetley 15.3 I just love that big push up into the saddle and then his nice wide back and the lovely creak of his leather saddle getting on.
We only did 20 minutes at walk but he was completely sound tracking up properly and it's good to know we're on the home straight now with this injury. He's back out now with his friends and I'll leave it a couple of days before going out again and only walking at the moment and definitely no schooling for a while. HAPPY DAY

Just Hacking About

Had a nice eventful ride 1st Tets had a race with a Greyhound, then a deer jumped out in front of him, then an ambulance went passed flashing and wailing as we were waiting to cross the road so that freaked him out then when we did cross loads of Gypsy horses were tethered right next to path and then 2 Dalmatians decided to run at him but we went and had a good gallop anyway.

Me and Tetley at the show ground yesterday we had a good time and got two 4ths so I was happy for our first equitation classes, especially as I forgot my show half way round the first class but happily the judge was very understanding.

The Nephew, a meal and loosing my mind x

OK I know it's now Tuesday but I've just got time to catch up on what I did at the weekend.
Oh it was a good one SUN,SUN,SUN and proper hot summer sun as I'm sure you know, but after last year with months of rain of biblical proportions it just can't be said enough WE HAVE LOTS OF SUN.

SATURDAY

Anyway Saturday morning the nephew came for a visit as he wanted to go to the stables with Al to ride on Tetley and I'm positive he must grow a few inches every night as he's just so tall I feel like a midget.
He managed to empty my tin of biscuits I baked the other day well with the help of the dogs that is
Please Please Please can we have some biscuit

The rest of Saturday was spent mooching around the garden then a nice walk with the dogs.

Sunday

It's Nick's (my son) birthday today so he wanted to go for a family meal on Sunday and my sister Collette suggested The Wharf in town (Manchester) I've never been before but I booked a table and arranged to meet them there, so me, Al, Nick and his friend Becky nipped on the train and off we went.

The pub is set next to the canal with barges parked up and lots of tables and chairs outside with a BBQ going and on such a lovely day it was a shame to have to go sit inside for our meal but it was worth it as the food was yummy.

There was a really good relaxed atmosphere which was helped by the barge people setting up their BBQ on the grass at the side they were messing around in a dingy and one guy was swimming in the canal.

So that just leaves 'loosing my mind' which I accomplished yesterday when I went for a hack with Jess one of the girls from the stables, we decided to go bare back no harm in that, but Jess who is half my age and twice the rider expressed a desire to jump the log. Now any normal, sane 50 year old would decline on this offer most strenuously but no not me I went for it full throttle only to find myself on the ground battered and bruised ah well serves me right maybe next time I'll just say no.

Missing the show

The Arab is my partner Al's being ridden by Lydia and the welsh cob is mine being ridden by Al

Well it was our local show (Silverbirch) today so we had a wander down to do some classes but when we got there we'd missed all the classes we wanted to do as some classes had been cancelled so they'd got through the rest really quickly. Anyway we had bacon buttys and a coffee from the food van and the horses grazed their way across the showground so the day wasn't a total loss, I took the pics on the walk back home.

A hack out

Had a lovely hack out with lovely friends today, the sun was out again and we had a good ride around the country park. Isn't it funny how soon we take things for granted we were mooching along with the sun shining and a chorus of different birds singing their songs and I thought how lucky I am to have such a beautiful horse I can't believe I own a horse really it's something I always wanted and now here I am how can I take that for granted. I'm going to have a couple of days off and leave him in the fields with his friends to just be horsey and I will spend time at home tootling around the house and garden with the dogs in tow and Al coming and going smoking far to many fags as usual.

Chestnut horse

Well the cars had to be scrapped and I can't afford to buy another so for the first time in 17 yrs I will be car -less. I'm not gonna stress about it but will have to adapt to not just nipping here and there as I want and who knows I may even have to take the bus :)

My nephew Richard is stopping tonight he came to the stables with me an wanted to ride Tetley so we had a walk round the country park in the sun, then he gave him a brush which Tets loves he brushed his forelock to the side and he says it makes him look like Hitler poor Tets :)

This is me and my horsey life

Chestnut horse
Well my first blog so here goes
Just to introduce myself I’m female live in the UK and am horse mad I have a chestnut Welsh Section D called Tetley who I love more than life itself cause that’s the way it is with horses they take over your life and mind, I’m not sure why they just seem to have a special something. I have 3 dogs (2 Lurchers and a staff) and I love them to but my boy is buried in my heart. My partner has a horse as well Leo is an Arab fool who still thinks he’s a 2 year old so our lives are spent mostly at the stables and this blog is just a diary of my daily life it’s not an extraordinary life or anything but I always find other people’s lives fascinating so I thought I’d document mine.
I came to horses late (extremely) I’m 50 now and got into horses 2 years ago when I finished work to look after my Mum who has Dementia I started loaning and riding a friends horse and after 12 months bought my own and also met my partner Al at the stables so have inherited his as well as part of the family. Mum’s gone into a home recently so I’m job hunting at the moment but don’t know how I’m gonna cope with working again after so long but I supposed I’ll get used to it soon enough I’ve got no choice really, I just want to earn enough money to be OK but still have time to have a life cause before I was working to many hours in a high stress job and that’s my worst scenario to end up back there.
Here’s a list of my favourite cultural stuff so you can get an idea of who I am well that’s if anyone actually reads this:
Music – Boards of Canada, Alt J, James Blake
Film – Fargo, Oh Brother where art thou, African Queen
Books – Moonheart, The Road, Chronicles of Thomas Covenant
